Khon kaen: A former member of the Khon Kaen City Police Station, under the influence of alcohol, displayed aggressive behavior by slapping a DJ multiple times for not playing a birthday song for a woman he accompanied to a local entertainment venue.
According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage captured the incident in the Mueang Khon Kaen district, where the former commissioner, known by the pseudonym "Hia Mo," confronted the DJ during a late-night performance. The altercation started when the DJ did not play "Happy Birthday" for the female entertainer celebrating her birthday. The footage also shows Hia Mo acting aggressively towards a security guard while demanding to see the venue owner, asserting his identity, and subsequently receiving an apology from the venue manager.
The DJ later posted a video of the incident, stating that it occurred around 1:30 AM on June 13th. The DJ described how the former commissioner approached the booth, made threatening remarks, and then slapped her on the head repeatedly. She has since filed a police report with the Khon Kaen City Police Station, citing injury and humiliation as reasons for demanding 300,000 baht in compensation.
"Hia Mo" appeared at the police station on June 16th and admitted in a phone interview that his actions were due to being heavily intoxicated and mistaking the DJ for someone he knew. He expressed regret for his actions, stating that he only intended to request the birthday song and did not realize his mistake until it was too late. He denies using his former position on the Police Administration Monitoring and Evaluation Committee to influence the situation and stated that he left the committee in December 2015.
The DJ emphasized her decision not to retaliate during the incident due to concerns for her safety, as she was not a local resident. She reported the incident, sought medical attention, and returned to Bangkok. Although an apology was attempted through a third party with an offer of 10,000 baht to settle the matter, she insists on a direct apology from the perpetrator, demanding accountability for his actions.
