The mayor of Bang Muang Subdistrict led a team of engineers to the area to provide assistance.
According to Thai News Agency, municipal officials in Bang Mueang Subdistrict used chainsaws and a crane to cut branches from a large tamarind tree, over 20 years old, that could no longer withstand the strong winds. Heavy rain and gusts caused the tree to fall, severely damaging the roofs of two houses in Soi Mit Maitri 27/16, Moo 9, Bang Mueang Mai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Samut Prakan Province. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries or fatalities.
Navy Captain Anusuk Nakthim, Mayor of Bang Muang Subdistrict, personally inspected the scene and ordered a team of engineering staff with full equipment to urgently cut and remove large tree branches that had fallen on the house roof. He will then assess the damage to the roof tiles to determine further assistance and compensation.
Mr. Wittaya Nimkhumphai, 66, the homeowner, recounted that a strong storm caused a large tamarind tree, over 20 years old, to fall on his house. He explained that prior to the incident, the soil had become soft due to flooding, and the roots are believed to have rotted. The strong winds then caused it to collapse, resulting in damage to the roof and breaking three supporting pillars. Fortunately, no one was injured. The homeowner was not home at the time; only his grandson and elderly grandmother were inside, and they are safe.
