Bangkok: 'Thailand Focus 2026' is bustling with activity as institutional investors from around the world participate, expressing confidence in the Thai economy and capital market.
According to Thai News Agency, 74 institutional investors worldwide participated in 'Thailand Focus 2026: Reignite Thailand.' Companies across all industries, including those in JUMP+, held 1,552 one-on-one and group meetings with institutional investors, reflecting confidence in the Thai capital market and investment opportunities. Experts unanimously agree that the Thai stock market is still in the early stages of recovery, setting a target of 1,720 points for the index this year and closely monitoring the implementation of policy.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), together with its partners including CLSA Securities (Thailand) Co., Ltd., DBS Vickers Securities (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and others, organized 'Thailand Focus 2026: Reignite Thailand' from August 26-28, 2026. The event featured a keynote address by Dr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, along with Mr. Ekanat Promphan, Minister of Energy, and other executives. Mr. Assadej Kongsiri, Director and President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand, revealed that the event received a positive response from 220 institutional investors from 74 institutions globally. This includes investors from countries like Switzerland, New Zealand, and Israel, attending Thailand Focus for the first time.
This event marks the 20th anniversary of Thailand Focus and is part of the affiliated program of the IMF - World Bank Group Annual Meetings 2026. It provides institutional investors with the opportunity to exchange views with executives from 77 listed companies, representing a combined market capitalization of 16 trillion baht. Investors showed particular interest in companies operating in sectors that represent Thailand's strengths, including 15 companies in the JUMP+ project. A total of 1,552 meetings were held to transform information reception into active investment opportunities.
Additionally, seven companies from stock exchanges in the region, namely Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, reinforced the role of cooperation in creating investment in the ASEAN region.
Global institutional investors are closely following Thailand's economic and investment policies. The SET Index has increased by almost 30% since the beginning of the year, reflecting investor confidence. Mr. Samir Kogar, Country Head of CLSA Securities (Thailand) Co., Ltd., stated that the Thai stock market has been vibrant this year, supported by political clarity following the election. Ms. Narisara Visetkosil, Senior Executive Director of DBS Vickers Securities (Thailand) Co., Ltd., noted a clearer picture of investment in areas such as foreign direct investment and digital infrastructure.
In terms of investment strategy, investors are becoming more selective, focusing on companies with clear earnings visibility. Mr. Supachok Supabandit, Managing Director of Kiatnakin Phatra Securities Public Company Limited, stated that foreign investors are considering Thailand again, seeing the current period as the beginning of a recovery. Mr. Pornchai Prasertsinthana, Vice Chairman - Investment Bank, Southeast Asia and Country Head Thailand at UBS Securities (Thailand) Co., Ltd., highlighted the importance of stability, with growth driven by AI and the energy transition.
Thailand Focus 2026, held for the 20th year, brought together high-level executives to exchange views on potential economic growth directions. Topics covered ranged from upgrading Thailand to a hub for future industries and strengthening fiscal stability. The event reflected Thailand's capacity to overcome challenges and achieve sustainable growth in the long term.
