Government Expedites Aid for Earthquake Victims with Comprehensive Compensation Plans

Bangkok: Earthquake victims are advised to submit claims within 30 days as the government rushes to provide comprehensive compensation. The initiative covers home repairs, career development funds, and consolation money.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, Deputy Government Spokesperson, announced that the government is mobilizing resources to support earthquake victims. Efforts include ongoing search and rescue missions, as well as immediate support for housing repairs. Guidelines have been established for financial assistance, which encompasses a range of areas such as housing repair costs, consolation money, and funds for career development to quickly restore victims’ quality of life.

Assistance for earthquake victims will be evaluated by the district committee responsible for damage assessment. The support includes covering the cost of materials for regular housing repairs, up to 49,500 baht per house. Temporary housing or house rent costs will also be covered, with a maximum of 3,000 baht per month for two months, totaling up to 6,000 baht.

Additionally, funeral expenses for the deceased are set at 29,700 baht per person. In cases where the deceased was the head of the family or the main breadwinner, the family will receive an additional 29,700 baht. For the injured, initial assistance ranges from 4,000 baht for serious injuries to 13,300 baht for injuries resulting in disability. Consolation money of 2,300 baht per person is also available for injuries caused by the disaster. Furthermore, occupation capital support is capped at 11,400 baht per family.

Victims are encouraged to download the application form from the websites of all 50 district offices or the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) within 30 days of the incident. Completed applications, along with supporting documents such as ID copies, house registration, land title deeds, and photographs of the damage, should be submitted to the administrative section of the district office.

Ms. Sasikarn emphasized the government’s commitment to assisting affected individuals, ensuring that all measures are implemented with care, transparency, and equality. The government’s efforts aim to help families rebuild their lives and ensure stability, promising to stand by the people throughout the recovery process to overcome the crisis together.
