Government Urges Welfare Cardholders to Complete Reconsideration Process by Month-End

Bangkok: Applications for reconsideration of welfare benefits can be submitted until the end of this month. Over 4 million holders of the state welfare card have already submitted appeals for reconsideration of their eligibility. More than 5 million remaining are urged to complete the process by the end of this month. Furthermore, the 3.1 million new cardholders should remember to verify their identity.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the government prioritizes ensuring that impoverished citizens receive their state welfare benefits comprehensively and fairly. Therefore, the government has integrated the work of all relevant agencies to expedite processes such as identity verification, appeals for eligibility reconsideration, and proactive public awareness campaigns, so that citizens can complete the process within the stipulated timeframe.

The Prime Minister's spokesperson stated that a total of 9.5 million people have qualified, comprising 6.3 million existing cardholders who do not require further identity verification, and 3.1 million new cardholders who must complete identity verification (e-KYC).

According to data from the Department of Provincial Administration, Ministry of Interior, as of August 2, 2026, over 2.1 million (69%) of new cardholders have already verified their identity. Approximately 980,000 (31%) remain unverified, and the government is actively following up, publicizing information, and facilitating the process to ensure citizens do not lose their rights.

For those who did not meet the eligibility criteria, the government has opened a review process. Currently, over 4.1 million people (44%) have submitted requests, while approximately 5.2 million people (56%) are still eligible to appeal. Therefore, applicants are urged to proceed by August 31, 2026.

The government has prepared comprehensive service channels, including the "Tang Rat" application, the "Pao Tang" application, the project website, five state-owned banks, and One Stop Service (OSS) centers at all 878 district offices nationwide, to assist citizens, especially the elderly, people with disabilities, and vulnerable groups who are not comfortable using online services.

The OSS center, under the Department of Provincial Administration, will receive requests for rights review and forward them to the rights verification agencies located in the district or province, such as the district tax office, district land office, provincial transportation office, provincial commerce office, etc. In addition, village heads and local administrative organizations will proactively drive this initiative in every village and community.

The government is committed to ensuring that eligible citizens do not lose their rights simply because of inconvenience or lack of knowledge of the procedures. Therefore, they have prepared sufficient staff, systems, and service channels. Ms. Rachada urged the more than 980,000 new cardholders who have not yet verified their identity and the more than 5.2 million people who have not yet submitted appeals to reconsider their eligibility to expedite the process within the specified timeframe, so that everyone can receive their full welfare benefits.
