Hatyai: Hatyai Wittayalai School resumed normal classes for the first time after a foreign teacher posted threatening messages and sent pictures of himself practicing shooting in a group chat on Line.
According to Thai News Agency, students and teachers of Hatyai Wittayalai School arrived at school early in the morning after the school was closed and online learning began on Monday. The atmosphere in front of the school was cordoned off with police officers from Hatyai Police Station, security guards, teachers, and students on duty ensuring safety and order. Random bag checks were conducted on students before entering any school gate, and no outsiders were allowed entry under any circumstances, to provide reassurance to students, teachers, and parents.
Ms. Thivichaya Meechuworapong, the school director, revealed that she felt anxious before arriving at the school. However, seeing police officers and school personnel taking care of students both outside the school and the student council and ROTC student volunteers looking after their fellow students inside the school, she felt relieved. She explained that senior officials from the Office of the Basic Education Commission, the Mayor of Hat Yai, and the District Chief of Hat Yai have given this matter special importance and have already planned security measures. She felt reassured and less worried, but emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant.
