Bangkok: Today, Bangkok and its surrounding areas face a 70% chance of rain.
According to Thai News Agency, the Meteorological Department reports that the eastern region, Bangkok and its surrounding areas, and the lower southern region are expected to experience heavy rainfall in some locations. This weather pattern is attributed to a moderate southwest monsoon affecting the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, compounded by a low-pressure system over northern Vietnam.
The Meteorological Department has advised residents in these regions to prepare for the potential dangers of heavy and prolonged rainfall. The conditions may lead to flash floods and landslides, particularly in vulnerable areas such as those near waterways and low-lying regions.
In terms of maritime conditions, wave heights in the upper Andaman Sea are moderate, measuring between 1-2 meters. In the lower Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, wave heights are approximately 1 meter, but in areas with thunderstorms, they may exceed 2 meters. Mariners in these areas are advised to exercise caution and avoid sailing in regions experiencing thunderstorms.
Rainfall distribution varies by region, with the North, Northeast, and Central regions expecting rain in 40% of their areas. The East and South, covering both east and west coasts, are predicted to have rain in 60% of their areas, while Bangkok and its surrounding areas will experience rain in 70% of their areas.
