Beijing: Heavy rains swept across southern and central China, causing widespread flooding and killing at least 10 people. Schools and businesses were forced to close temporarily, and public transportation and power supplies were cut off in many areas.
According to Thai News Agency, the China Meteorological Administration has issued a high-risk warning for flash floods, landslides, and urban flooding across Jiangxi, Anhui, Hunan, Hubei, Guizhou, Guangdong, Hainan, and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Authorities have begun implementing emergency response measures. In Hunan province, the weather alert level has been raised to level 2, resulting in the evacuation of more than 16,000 people to safety.
China's state-run CCTV reported that at least six people died when a pickup truck carrying 15 passengers veered off the road and plunged into a fast-flowing river in Guangxi province. Additionally, three more deaths were reported in flash floods that inundated low-lying villages in Hubei province, and one more in Hunan province. Meanwhile, the China National Meteorological Administration predicted that heavy rains would continue moving eastward and southward, with the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River expected to experience the heaviest rainfall.
