“Hemaderm” Wins Shanghai Gold Medal for Innovative Psoriasis Skin Treatment

Bangkok: The government commends Thai innovation for gaining international recognition and winning awards, providing a new option to improve the quality of life for patients with severe psoriasis.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ploytale Laksmisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the government commends the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, Ministry of Public Health, for its outstanding achievement on the international stage. The department submitted its innovative "Hemaderm" nanoemulsion, a new alternative for improving the quality of life for patients with severe psoriasis, to the "The 9th China (Shanghai) International Invention and Innovation Expo 2026" in Shanghai, China, from June 11-13, 2026, and successfully won a Gold Medal and the NRCT Special Award. This competition, organized by the World Invention Intellectual Property Association (WIIPA) in collaboration with Chinese government and private sector organizations, featured over 1,000 entries from more than 10 countries worldwide.

Ms. Ploytalee stated that 'Hemaderm' is a significant innovation developed to overcome the limitations of traditional topical psoriasis treatments. Its key features include being steroid-free, making it safe for long-term use, and it doesn't leave stains or alter skin color or clothing. Furthermore, it utilizes nano-delivery technology, allowing the medication to effectively penetrate the outer layers of the skin, acting directly on affected areas. This results in more effective treatment for patients with severe psoriasis and provides a new treatment option. Currently, the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine is actively promoting psoriasis care through the development of 'customized herbal medicines' and Thai traditional medicine innovations within the healthcare system, covering over 100 hospitals under the Ministry of Public Health nationwide. The initiative is also being expanded into the National Health Security System to increase treatment options, reduce costs, and improve the quali ty of life for patients with chronic diseases within the public health system.

'The government is ready to support and drive the production plan and support the provision of such innovative services in Thai traditional and alternative medicine hospitals, both in the central and regional areas, with the aim of concretely improving the treatment and quality of life of psoriasis patients nationwide,' Ms. Ploytalee stated.
