The Bodhi-covered church is also a favored spot for photography, with many visitors hoping their wishes for good luck will come true as they walk through its archway.
Wat Lek Thammakit, meaning "a temple honorable by the inscribed Dharma," has historical roots dating back to the late Ayutthaya period. Originally named Wat Bang O Nok, it is said that King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) once visited the temple during his travels. The old ordination hall was constructed in 1897 by the then abbot, with Grandfather Phueak and Grandmother Lamphu as patrons.
Historically, a large teak tree grew at the site, and it was embraced by a Bodhi tree. Legend tells of the teak tree's spirit appearing in a villager's dream, requesting the Bodhi tree's removal. However, the teak tree eventually fell on its own, and the villagers placed it within the temple grounds.
