JIC Director Inspects Strategic Border Sites Amid Tensions

Surin province: Inspecting the battle lines at "Prasat Ta Kwai - Hill 350," the JIC Director observed Cambodian troop deployments and reinforced defenses. Air Chief Marshal Praphas Sonjaidee, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force and Director of the Joint Information Center for the Thai-Cambodian Situation, led a delegation to monitor the Thai-Cambodian border situation, encourage frontline troops, and distribute essential supplies.

According to Thai News Agency, the concrete road leading to the temple has been completed, and the surrounding area cleared of landmines. Restoration of the temple is planned for 2027-2029 following a survey by the Fine Arts Department. A new road connects Prasat Ta Kwai to Hill 350, reducing travel time between these locations, and a steel staircase has been installed for easier access to Hill 350.

Following recent clashes, Thai troops have pushed back Cambodian forces, who now operate from positions behind the K58 road. This road serves as a critical border artery, linking strategic points and facilitating troop movements. Reports detail the presence of Cambodian tanks and drones near Ta Kwai Temple, while Thai forces employ anti-drone measures.

Cambodian troops appear unfazed by F-16s due to robust bunkers funded by Chinese and Cambodian businesses. These firms have divided responsibilities to secure key locations like Chong Chom and Ta Kwai Temple. Morning and evening gatherings of Cambodian soldiers have been noted near the border.

A recent incident involving Thai military dogs affected by landmines highlights ongoing tensions. Despite this, preparations continue for the RUN FOR HONOR event on December 20th, aimed at commemorating fallen heroes. Authorities assure safe conditions for participants, as the event will occur within Thai borders.
