Bangkok: Khunying Kalaya has expressed no concern over Abhisit Vejjajiva’s return to the Democrat Party, considering it a positive development as long as the competition serves the public interest. Meanwhile, Dr. Ae has remained silent on whether he will put forward a candidate for the Bangkok gubernatorial race.
According to Thai News Agency, on November 16, 2015, Khunying Kalaya Sophonpanich, president of the Thai Kao Mai Party, discussed the upcoming election, which is expected to be particularly competitive within the Democrat Party. Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva has expressed his intention to focus on developing human capital and nurturing quality individuals. Khunying Kalaya believes this competition should ultimately benefit the people, emphasizing the importance of clean politics and human capital development for overcoming national challenges.
Khunying Kalaya articulated her vision for Thailand, stating, “We volunteer to be the first party to plant the flag for Thailand to be made up of quality people, able to compete with other countries.” She highlighted the party’s commitment to fostering knowledge, which she believes will lead to better jobs, incomes, and lives for the citizens of Thailand.
Despite the presence of major parties like Bhumjaithai and Pheu Thai, which have already launched their candidates, Khunying Kalaya remains undeterred. She emphasized, “We are determined. If we have people who care about the country, they will support us.” She stressed the importance of equipping future generations with resilience and knowledge to navigate upcoming changes, promising a better future for Thailand’s children.
Mr. Suchatvee Suwansawat, leader of the Thai Move New Party, also commented on the party’s preparations for the Bangkok gubernatorial election. He confirmed that discussions are ongoing, and while no decisions have been finalized, he urged the public to stay tuned for updates. When pressed about confirming a candidate, Mr. Suchatvee stated, “We are still discussing it.”
