Bangkok: His Majesty the King has appointed Lt. Gen. Bunsin Phadklang, Commander of the 2nd Army Area, as a special royal guard, making him the 20th officer to receive such an honor. In total, 38 military and police officers have been appointed as special royal guards.
According to Thai News Agency, the Royal Gazette website published an announcement on September 27, 2025, detailing the appointment of these officers as special royal guards and special royal police guards. This follows a royal command that utilizes the authority granted by several legislative sections, including Section 7 of the Security Act B.E. 2560, Sections 6, 7, and 10 of the Royal Guard Act B.E. 2480, Sections 4, 5, and 6 of the Royal Police Act B.E. 2495, and Section 6 of the Ministry of Defense regulations on the appointment of royal guards B.E. 2559.
The appointments reflect the continued emphasis on security and the importance of the royal guard in maintaining national stability. The newly appointed officers will serve in their roles as per the specified regulations and legal framework.
