Chom phra: A video of Nong Chaiyo, a first-grade student from Ban War Phraisi School in the Chom Phra District of Surin Province, has captured the hearts of many. The video features the young boy singing "A Homage to the Five Buddha Pagodas," which has gone viral, earning him the nickname "The Vocalist with 38,000 Dharma Teachings."
According to Thai News Agency, Setthawut Nammanutsri, affectionately known as Chaiyo, is a 7-year-old student who, along with his fellow dancers, is preparing to participate in a preliminary singing and dance competition at Sangkha School in the Sangkha District. Viewers of the viral video have been charmed by his performance, flooding the comments section with praise for his talent and cuteness. Chaiyo expressed his gratitude for the support and shared his aspirations of becoming a singer and actor, hoping to support his family, including his father, who works as a janitor at his school.
Mr. Rungroj Simainam, one of Chaiyo's teachers, recognized his singing talent early on, particularly his skill in traditional Thai folk songs, also known as Lam Lae. Despite Chaiyo's initial shyness, Mr. Rungroj's encouragement helped him gain the confidence to perform publicly. The school, committed to nurturing Chaiyo's abilities, is poised to sponsor his participation in future competitions. Plans are underway to have Chaiyo compete in the Student Arts and Crafts Competition and possibly in a male Luk Thung singing competition.
