Police Allocate Budget to Accelerate Hat Yai’s Recovery and Prepare for Potential Flooding

Bangkok: A spokesperson for the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) revealed after a meeting on flood relief in Hat Yai that the government has assigned relevant agencies to consider urgent budget allocations in preparation for the rainy season in November-December 2026, with a timeframe of 100 days.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Veerapong Prapha, spokesperson for the Joint Public-Private Sector Committee for Economic Problem Solving (JPC), elaborated on the government's strategy to mitigate the impacts of potential flooding in Hat Yai. The plan involves assessing areas in need of immediate funding for recovery efforts, particularly focusing on the business sector which includes tourism and retail, crucial for the region's economy.

The urgency of the matter has prompted the government to prioritize budget allocations to ensure that the necessary resources are available to counteract possible disruptions. The allocated funds are intended to bolster infrastructure and provide relief to areas identified as high-risk during the upcoming rainy season.
