Sa kaeo: A cat-loving man was arrested after claiming he sold methamphetamine to support his 54 cats. Administrative officials in Sa Kaeo province arrested the man for hiding 86 methamphetamine pills under a pile of charcoal. He claimed he needed to sell the drugs to feed his 54 cats.
According to Thai News Agency, this operation took place after the Sa Kaeo Provincial Anti-Narcotics Command Center received complaints from residents that a house in Tha Kasem Subdistrict, Mueang Sa Kaeo District, was being used for drug-related activities, causing fear and distress to the community. Officials were therefore ordered to investigate the facts urgently.
When officers arrived at the house, they found Mr. Banjob, or "Job," 37, lying on a pallet at the back of a ten-wheel truck inside the house. After identifying themselves and conducting a preliminary questioning, Mr. Banjob appeared agitated and suspicious. He eventually admitted to having used methamphetamine earlier.
During a search of the house, officers found a white plastic container inside a ziplock bag containing 86 methamphetamine pills hidden under a pile of charcoal next to the truck bed of a trailer. Mr. Banjob admitted that all the methamphetamine belonged to him, and a urine test revealed the presence of methamphetamine in his system.
Mr. Banjob admitted that he resorted to selling methamphetamine because he keeps 54 cats at home, spending an average of 180 baht per day on cat food. He also needed to save money for veterinary care when the cats were sick. However, authorities were not convinced by his statement.
