MEA Reinforces Safety and Quality Standards in Meeting with Contractors

Bangkok: MEA (Metropolitan Electricity Authority) emphasizes safety standards and quality of work, holding meetings to explain policies to contractors to build confidence in the Bangkok metropolitan electricity system.

According to Thai News Agency, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) is advancing its mission to prioritize safety in the construction and maintenance of electrical systems. A significant meeting was convened to elucidate policies and operational guidelines for contracting companies, under the leadership of Mr. Ronachai Ruangyuth, Deputy Governor of MEA. The primary objectives were to strengthen safety protocols, ensure transparency, and deliver high-quality service, all aimed at achieving maximum public satisfaction and maintaining the stability of the electrical system across Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan.

This initiative is a pivotal step in fostering a mutual understanding between MEA and its business partners. It aligns with MEA's vision of "Energy for City Life, Energize Smart Living," especially in a bustling metropolitan context where public safety and traffic management are of utmost importance.

The Deputy Governor highlighted that MEA prioritizes safety standards and quality in construction work. This year, MEA has intensified its collaborative efforts with contractors, focusing on three core aspects:

Safety and Environment: Contractors are required to strictly follow safety regulations, including comprehensive manuals for site work and accident prevention. This ensures safety not only for workers but also for the public. Proper management of the work area is essential to minimize environmental impact and traffic disruption.

Quality and Standards: The installation and maintenance of the power distribution system must adhere to MEA's engineering standards, ensuring power system stability and reducing the risk of outages.

Transparency and Good Governance: MEA is committed to transparent, verifiable, and corruption-free operations, in line with its corporate governance policy.

"We want all contractors to realize that they are a vital component in delivering quality electricity services. Every step of the operation must be professional, efficient, and meticulous. If any work is found to be non-conforming, MEA is ready to impose penalties immediately according to the contract, in order to maintain the highest standards of service for the public," stated the Deputy Governor.

MEA also facilitated a platform for contractors to share opinions and suggestions, aiming to enhance the efficiency of their collaborative efforts. This underscores MEA's dedication to being a leading, modern organization that prioritizes the interests of all stakeholders.
