Bangkok: The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) and the Capital Market Development Fund (CMDF) have announced an expansion of their collaborative efforts into the second year of the "Research Grant Support Program for Young Researchers in Capital Markets." This initiative aims to foster the development of a skilled human resource ecosystem and provide crucial funding for ten young researcher projects, driving them towards practical implementation.
According to Thai News Agency, a signing ceremony was recently held to amend the Memorandum of Understanding on Capital Market Development Cooperation. This event marked a significant step forward in the "Research Grant Support Project for Young Researchers in Capital Markets." The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (OSMHE), and Mr. Chakchai Boonyawat, Manager of CMDF. Other key attendees included Dr. Panphermsak Arunee, Deputy Permanent Secretary of OSMHE, Ms. Keerati Kaewsamrit, Director of the Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Development Division, and Ms. Nadda Cheyode, Director of the OSMHE 1 Driving and Development Group. The ceremony was held at the press conference room in the Phra Chom Klao Building, OSMHE.
Professor Dr. Supachai emphasized the strategic importance of this collaboration, highlighting it as a critical investment in establishing a robust "National Brain Power Ecosystem." The initiative seeks to boost capabilities across four key dimensions: preparing young researchers for global competitiveness, establishing inter-institutional knowledge networks, fostering financial innovations for practical problem-solving, and enhancing Thailand's position as a regional financial hub. The results from the 2025 fiscal year indicate that 10 high-quality research projects have already advanced to the stage where they can influence policy applications. The renewed agreement assures continued support for another 10 research projects, reinforcing the commitment to leveraging higher education, science, and innovation to transform the Thai capital market and drive economic growth.
Mr. Chakchai Boonyawat noted that the partnership between CMDF and MHESI represents a critical advancement in supporting young researchers in the capital market. In an era characterized by AI advancements, digital economic shifts, and geopolitical challenges, the Thai capital market requires not just financial capital but also "knowledge" to navigate emerging opportunities and risks. This collaboration aims to align academic expertise with the practical needs of the capital market, ensuring that research transcends academic publications and evolves into impactful policies and financial innovations. By investing in human capital, the initiative seeks to cultivate researchers equipped to address modern economic and technological challenges, thus strengthening the Thai capital market's capacity for sustainable global competition.
