Bangkok: The Minister of Industry reiterated the 'ONE MIND' policy to elevate the Thai industrial sector to an international level at the 'Manufacturing Expo 2026,' showcasing new machinery innovations that will help increase profits, save energy, and boost productivity.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Industry, stated at the opening of the 'Manufacturing Expo 2026' that the Ministry of Industry reiterates its 'ONE MIND' policy to elevate the Thai industrial sector to an international level. This involves supporting the creation of a fair competitive environment while simultaneously helping Thai entrepreneurs adapt to new global regulations for sustainable growth. This is especially important for the automotive industry, where Thailand is currently the number one production base in ASEAN, number five in Asia, and number 11 globally. The challenges of the technological transition to electric vehicles and hydrogen energy in the future focus on redefining vehicles to be smart devices with maximum safety, along with promoting ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) concepts and a circular economy for the sustainable management of batteries and end-of-life components.
Mr. Kriengsak Wongpromrat, Director of the Automotive Institute, stated that the direction of the modern automotive industry is not just about EVs, but also includes smart technologies integrated into vehicles. Understanding these technologies is essential to prepare the industry for modern supply chains and to create an ecosystem to support smart systems in four dimensions: Smarter is Safer, Smarter is Pleasure, Smarter is Saver, and Smarter is Greener. This collaborative event, which includes the Automotive Summit 2026, will further strengthen cooperation between the government, industry, academia, and entrepreneurs to jointly drive the Thai automotive industry towards a sustainable future of Smart Mobility.
This year's Manufacturing Expo 2026, held at BITEC from June 17-20, encompasses seven specialized exhibitions covering plastics, molds, automotive parts, robotics and automation, electronics, surface coatings, and factory and building management. A highlight this year is the first-ever appearance of the AMTS Pavilion from China in Thailand to showcase cutting-edge automotive technologies. Also featured is the Automotive Summit 2026, held in collaboration with the Automotive Institute, under the theme "Smart Mobility - Smarter is Future," featuring over 90 seminars from experts to provide new perspectives and connect partners from over 80 countries, aiming to foster sustainable growth in future businesses.
