Bangkok: The Ministry of Finance has reaffirmed its commitment to reinstating eligibility for state welfare benefits for individuals affected by inaccurate information in their applications. The focus of the state welfare card program is to assist targeted groups of citizens, and the Ministry is taking steps to rectify errors that have impacted the distribution of benefits.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Vinit Visetsuwannapoom, Director of the Fiscal Policy Office and spokesperson for the Ministry of Finance, reported that over 4.1 million people have requested a review of their eligibility for the state welfare card. He acknowledged that inaccuracies, particularly in income data, may have occurred due to individuals unknowingly falsifying expenses during registration or being incorrectly listed as company directors. These errors have prompted the Ministry to use accurate databases to filter cases and address unauthorized benefit transfers. The Ministry is committed to restoring benefits to those affected to alleviate hardship and ensure assistance reaches the intended recipients.
Furthermore, the Ministry is addressing the case of working-age individuals aged 25-30 who continue to receive state welfare benefits. The Ministry plans to investigate whether these individuals still require support and explore alternative forms of welfare to improve their economic status sustainably. Appeals related to welfare eligibility will be reviewed and finalized by September 30th, with full benefits reinstated by October 1st, 2026.
