The Commissioner, in coordination with Srinakharinwirot University (SWU), will gather additional evidence before forwarding the case to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) for further scrutiny. A second progress report will be compiled for the Prime Minister to enhance systems aimed at curbing future corruption.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Nattasak Chaowanasai, Commander of the Crime Suppression Division, has indicated further developments in the exam corruption inquiry. The division has sought more documents and testimonies from SWU and instructed its team to perform additional technical investigations. This approach aims to identify any more individuals involved, beyond the three already implicated. A meeting with the investigation team will ensure that sufficient evidence is gathered before proceeding with any further legal action.
A fact-finding committee will receive a report today as part of the second progress update. The report highlights advances in the investigation, control processes, and documentation from SWU that have been circulating on social media. Following this, the Deputy Prime Minister is expected to address the media, with the Office of the Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister serving as the primary spokesperson.
A decision on whether additional prosecutions will occur is anticipated by Monday. If no further charges are made, a preliminary report will be sent to the NACC for the subcommittee to continue the investigation process. Given that government officials are involved, the NACC's special investigation unit will handle the case with detailed attention.
Efforts are being made to expedite the case resolution by Monday or Tuesday. The police have amassed considerable evidence to investigate further those accountable. However, the involvement of government officials necessitates a joint investigative team from the NACC to assess this evidence thoroughly.
Regarding the report to the Prime Minister, there is an emphasis on examining the production process to pinpoint any deficiencies. This examination aims to inform the Prime Minister and facilitate the implementation of corrective actions to avert similar occurrences in the future, along with providing recommendations for solutions.
