Myanmar Cook Arrested for Dismemberment Murder of Girlfriend

Yangon: A brutal Myanmar cook has been arrested in Yangon for murdering and dismembering his girlfriend, stuffing her remains into plastic containers. Police are rushing him back to Bangkok for prosecution and are also searching for the missing head of the victim.

According to Thai News Agency, the shocking discovery of the body of a 34-year-old Myanmar woman, a waitress at a restaurant in the Khlong Toei area, was made when she was found dismembered and stuffed into plastic boxes on the balcony of her apartment in Soi Ratchaprarop 14, Din Daeng, Bangkok. The Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for her boyfriend, Aung Pye, 31, a cook, who is suspected of murder. The motive is believed to be jealousy, and he fled after the crime.

Thai police, in cooperation with Myanmar authorities, successfully tracked down and arrested Mr. Aung Pye, the suspect wanted on an arrest warrant, while he was hiding in Yangon, Myanmar. After committing the crime, he illegally fled back to his home country through unofficial border crossings.

Currently, Pol. Maj. Gen. Worasak Pisitbannakorn, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 1, has ordered investigative teams from Metropolitan Police Division 1 and Din Daeng Police Station to immediately travel to the Mae Sot Immigration Checkpoint in Tak Province to receive the suspect from the Myanmar authorities. The suspect will then be brought back to Bangkok immediately for further investigation and to locate the missing head of the deceased.
