Bangkok: The Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) has released new guidelines to assist policyholders in southern Thailand with reporting insurance claims related to recent flooding. These guidelines aim to help policyholders correctly exercise their rights and avoid potential pitfalls that might lead to the loss of those rights.
According to Thai News Agency, the OIC has addressed common concerns among policyholders, such as whether repairs can be initiated before filing a claim if a vehicle stalls and won’t start in the middle of a flooded road. The commission has introduced a damage assessment system categorized from levels A to E to offer a preliminary evaluation of a vehicle’s damage due to flooding.
To support a claim, policyholders are advised to take photographs from all necessary angles. It is also essential to prepare the required documents before contacting the insurance company to follow the car insurance claim process accurately.
