Bangkok: One hundred police officers were ordained as monks in a merit-making ceremony dedicated to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha. The Royal Thai Police demonstrated their loyalty by sending officers to participate in this monastic ordination event, under the patronage of the Supreme Patriarch.
According to Thai News Agency, the Royal Thai Police arranged for police officers to join the ordination program organized by the government from June 13-29, 2026. This initiative, held at Wat Rajabopit Sathit Mahasimararam in Bangkok, Wat Phraya Yati, and the Somdej Phra Sangkharaj (Amphromaha Thera) Meditation Institute in Pathum Thani Province, aimed to dedicate merit to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavadi.
On June 14, 2026, the ordination ceremony took place at Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Mahasimararam. His Holiness Somdej Phra Ariyavongsakhatayan, the Supreme Patriarch, appointed Somdej Phra Maha Veerawong, the Secretary to the Supreme Patriarch, to lead the ceremony on his behalf. Mrs. Yupa Thawiwattanakitbavorn, Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, presided over the ceremony on the lay side, with government officials and representatives from various agencies in attendance.
The Office of the Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister selected 100 participants from different agencies for the project, including six police officers: Police Colonel Yotsak Raksuwan, Police Lieutenant Kritsada Sri-iedsuk, Police Sergeant Major Botdol Loknokdeesai, Police Sergeant Major Chumpol Chan-nuan, Police Colonel Sittimes Srikusalanon, and Police Lieutenant Nokdon Pattanasevi.
Additionally, Police Major General Chaiyapat Sriprasert, Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, joined the hair-shaving and ordination ceremony at Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Mahasimararam. Executives and representatives from various government agencies participated in offering merit to Princess Bajrakitiyabha.
Throughout the program, the ordination participants will study Buddhist scriptures, practice meditation, and cultivate mindfulness. This experience aims to instill virtues and ethics, allowing participants to apply Buddhist principles to their lives and duties, ultimately benefiting themselves, their organizations, and society.
This initiative reflects the gratitude and loyalty of police officers towards the monarchy and their commitment to preserving Buddhism, promoting morality, and ethics. The event is a tribute to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavadi for her immeasurable kindness.
