According to Thai News Agency, former Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra gave an interview after hearing the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions’ verdict in the case against former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who was admitted to the 14th floor of Police General Hospital. She stated that her family is deeply grateful for His Majesty the King’s graciousness in granting a pardon and commuting her father’s sentence. “Our entire family is deeply grateful for His Majesty’s kindness, and we feel this every day, and we thank everyone for their support and concern for our father and our family.”
Ms. Paethongtarn stated that Mr. Thaksin has been a spiritual leader in politics. Throughout his many accomplishments for the country, he has always been a person who thinks of the nation, hoping to contribute to the well-being of his fellow citizens. “My family and I are concerned about my father and are proud that he has made so much history for the country, including his policies that have greatly benefited the people of the country.”
Today marks another historic day for the first Prime Minister to be imprisoned. “This may be a bit of a burden, but both my father and family are in good spirits. Personally, I and the Pheu Thai Party will continue to work as the opposition and work for the people, scrutinizing the government. Everyone in the party is in good spirits.
