Bangkok: Thaksin posted a message of acceptance of the verdict, expressing gratitude for His Majesty the King’s royal pardon, reducing his prison sentence to one year, and thanking the public for their support.
According to Thai News Agency, Thaksin posted on X, stating, “My fellow citizens, I am deeply grateful for the great kindness of His Majesty the King, who granted me a royal pardon, reducing my prison sentence to one year. This is an immeasurable act of kindness towards both myself and my family.”
Thaksin expressed his readiness to accept the verdict and reflected on his tenure as Prime Minister from 2001-2006, highlighting his efforts to improve the quality of life for the people, enhance the political landscape of Thailand, and foster a competitive environment for political parties. He described these achievements as his greatest pride as an elected politician.
He acknowledged that the legal cases against him emerged following the 2006 coup but expressed hope for the resolution of his legal battles and related conflicts. Thaksin thanked the public for their continued support, along with politicians, members of the Pheu Thai Party, and friends who have supported him.
Thaksin emphasized his commitment to moving forward and working for the nation, religion, monarchy, and people, sharing a vision for unity and progress. He pledged to maintain his freedom of thought and dedicate his remaining life to serving the monarchy, the land of Thailand, and its people, regardless of his future status.
