Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s Wealth Declines by Over 2 Billion Baht After Leaving Office

Bangkok: The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has unveiled the asset declaration of former Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, revealing that her wealth has decreased to 11 billion baht, down from 13 billion baht.

According to Thai News Agency, the NACC's disclosure comes as part of its routine release of asset and liability declarations for political office holders upon their departure from office. Ms. Paetongtarn, who stepped down on July 1, 2025, alongside her husband Mr. Pitak Sukhsawat and their two children, declared combined assets totaling 11,321,646,719 baht, with liabilities amounting to 4,441,159,711 baht.

Ms. Paetongtarn's personal assets include 7,237,696 baht in cash, 1,060,535,410 baht in bank deposits across 26 accounts, investments valued at 8,347,745,540 baht, a loan of 15,238,714 baht to Mr. Panthongtae Shinawatra, and 12 plots of land worth 724,922,982 baht. Additional holdings consist of buildings and structures valued at 168,615,386 baht, vehicles, including 23 cars, valued at 66,770,000 baht, and rights and concessions totaling 425,022,830 baht, including two apartment leases in London.

Her other assets, amounting to 418,681,250 baht, comprise gold bars, watches, collectible figurines, and various luxury items. Her liabilities include an overdraft of 5,458,262 baht, with other liabilities amounting to 4,434,522,338 baht, notably from promissory notes for shares purchased from family members-an issue that sparked a no-confidence debate earlier in 2025 due to suspected fraudulent transactions.

Ms. Paetongtarn's reported annual income is 208,879,130 baht, derived from salary, dividends, interest, and rental income, against annual expenses totaling 58,220,000 baht, covering insurance, personal and household expenses, and donations. Meanwhile, Mr. Pitak's assets and annual income are significantly lower, with declared assets of 86,746,214 baht and an annual income of 4,909,100 baht, primarily from salary and dividends. His expenses amount to 3,668,846 baht, covering personal and common area fees, tax, and liabilities.

The report also details their assessable income under the Revenue Code, with Ms. Paetongtarn's at 5,027,468 baht and Mr. Pitak's at 3,585,348 baht. Comparatively, Ms. Paetongtarn's asset declaration upon taking office in January 2025 indicated assets worth 13,993,826,903 baht, showing a significant decrease of over 2,672,180,184 baht after her term ended.
