Bangkok: Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul concluded his official visit to the People's Republic of China, emphasizing comprehensive cooperation, cross-border crime resolution, and the signing of 15 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs).
According to Thai News Agency, on the final day of the visit, the Prime Minister attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument to the People's Heroes in Tiananmen Square. He also engaged in talks with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, focusing on strengthening ties and promoting bilateral cooperation.
Anutin Charnvirakul later participated in an official welcoming ceremony hosted by Chinese Premier Li Qiang, where both leaders reviewed a military guard of honor. During a plenary meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to upgrading their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. Discussions spanned across various sectors including economy, trade, investment, infrastructure connectivity, future technology, security, cross-border crime, and regional stability.
Both nations agreed to establish a Thai-Chinese foreign and defense ministerial dialogue mechanism for strategic consultations. They also concurred on expanding cooperation in the defense industry, technology transfer, and human resource development. The Thai Prime Minister emphasized the importance of suppressing online scam networks, financial fraud, and illegal businesses. Expressing concern over rising crime along borders, he proposed increased cooperation in intelligence sharing, investigative data, financial transactions, and mastermind profiles to enhance suppression efficiency, stating that Thailand has extended full cooperation to China.
The visit concluded with both leaders witnessing the signing of 15 agreements and MOUs between agencies of the two countries. These agreements encompass cooperation on preventing and suppressing transnational crime, health, energy, artificial intelligence (AI), research, patent utilization, and information exchange.
Additionally, the Prime Minister visited Alibaba Group to study digital knowledge, innovation, and investment opportunities for national development, and toured the Yonghe Temple (Lama Temple) before returning to Bangkok last night.
