Nakhon si thammarat: Police Region 8 has initiated an investigation into the actions of Mr. Chaichana Dechdecho, a Democrat Party MP, following an incident where he allegedly slapped a deputy superintendent of Thungyai Police Station. The Assistant Commissioner of Police has emphasized that everyone must adhere to the same legal standards.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Surapong Thanomjit, who is the Assistant Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police and acting commander of Provincial Police Region 8, has directed regional investigators to collect evidence and conduct interviews at the scene of the incident. This incident involved Mr. Chaichana allegedly assaulting Pol. Lt. Col. Tanongsak Sawasdikomol, who has since filed a formal complaint against him at Thungyai Police Station.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Pornchai Kajornklin, the Deputy Commander of Provincial Police Region 8, is overseeing the investigative efforts along with his team. The altercation took place at a local politician's residence in Tambon Prik. Investigators are currently gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses, with plans to summon Mr. Chaichana for further questioning.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Surapong has stressed that all individuals associated with the case will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted if necessary, irrespective of their social or political standing.
