Bangkok: The Prime Minister sidestepped inquiries about Dr. Chonlanan Srikaew's involvement in an opposition seminar concerning a collusion case involving senators. An investigation into the leaked "Senate collusion" case file is underway, as revealed following Ruttapol's statement that the leak occurred during the previous Minister of Justice's tenure. The Prime Minister urged coalition partners to maintain courtesy, emphasizing that parliamentary matters are complex and involve multiple factors.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul addressed Dr. Chonlanan Srikaew's participation in the seminar titled "Thai Politics in a Crisis of Confidence," held on August 29th. Yingcheep Atchanon, director of the Internet for People's Law Project (iLaw), is also alleged to be involved in the Senate collusion case. Anutin distanced himself from the matter, asserting, "I don't know anything about the Senate collusion case. Why are you asking me about it? I'm not involved. I'm in the government."
Further inquiries about Dr. Chonlanan's role as a coalition government member were met with Anutin's acknowledgment of each party's independence. He stated, "Being a coalition partner means we work together to administer the country. Dr. Chonlanan is not a cabinet member in my government."
The Prime Minister also addressed the demands for a fact-finding committee to investigate an alleged helicopter shooting in Narathiwat Province. He clarified that martial law in the area grants supreme authority to Lieutenant General Norathip Poynok, the commander in charge. An investigation into the incident is anticipated.
Regarding the leaked case file on senator collusion, Prime Minister Anutin acknowledged the breach, stating, "If you're asking if it leaked, it definitely did." He stressed the importance of adhering to laws and not releasing official documents.
When questioned about the potential no-confidence motion related to senator collusion, Anutin emphasized coalition government etiquette and stability. He noted, "Don't just look at the numbers; it's not that simple. There's no need to worry."
Anutin also commented on the arrest of Mr. Prawit Jaruratchakul, known as "Mayor Heng," by the Anti-Corruption Division for allegedly accepting bribes. He highlighted the government's commitment to combating corruption, questioning whether this action demonstrated their seriousness in addressing such issues.
