Prime Minister Orders Crackdown on Cheating Ring in Government Recruitment Exams

Bangkok: The Prime Minister has commanded a full-scale action to dismantle a cheating ring involved in the local government recruitment exams, ensuring that the Ministry of Interior is not implicated in any fraudulent activities. The directive comes in response to recent arrests made by the Anti-Corruption Division and the National Anti-Corruption Commission.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul commented on the issue, stating his awareness and commitment to eradicating such corruption. He has made it clear that the Ministry of Interior will not tolerate these activities and is prepared to take decisive measures to address them.

Deputy Minister of Interior Mr. Worasit Liengprasit, who oversees the Department of Local Administration, provided additional context, noting that this problem traces back to the local government exams of 2025. As a result, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul initiated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) among five agencies to address the issue. Today, new evidence has surfaced related to the cheating ring.

Mr. Worasit mentioned that it is premature to make definitive comments on the current status of the exam cheating case. The Department of Local Administration (DLA) is tasked with investigating the parties involved. Initial reports suggest around 3,000 individuals might be implicated, though it is believed that the actual number could be significantly higher. At this stage, identifying the responsible parties remains challenging as further information is being collected.
