Chumphon: Deputy Prime Minister Suchart announced a Quick Win approach to resolving land ownership issues, distributing land title deeds to residents of Chumphon province covering over 8,000 rai. The government is caring for its citizens while simultaneously ensuring sustainable forest conservation.
According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, visited Chumphon Province to preside over the ceremony of presenting land ownership documents to citizens whose issues of residence and livelihood in national forest reserves have been resolved. He was accompanied by Dr. Raveewan Phuridej, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment; Mr. Nikorn Sirirojananon, Director-General of the Royal Forest Department; Mr. Thianchai Chookittivibul, Governor of Chumphon Province; and other executives. The ceremony took place at the auditorium of Tha Sae Ratchadaphisek School in Tha Sae District, Chumphon Province. During the ceremony, permits allowing the use and residence of citizens in the Pa Rab Ro and Pa Salui national forest reserves, covering over 7,640 rai, were presented to the Governor of Chumphon Province for allocation as agricultural land to communities. Land ownership documents were also presented to 1,098
citizens who received land allocations under the Cabinet resolution of November 26, 2018, covering over 8,455 rai across three districts: Tha Sae, Mueang Chumphon, and Pathio, enabling people to live and work legally and have greater security in life.
Deputy Prime Minister Suchart Chomklin stated that the Prime Minister has instructed the government to expedite the resolution of land ownership issues affecting people nationwide, particularly those overlapping with national forest reserves. In response, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is implementing a Quick Win plan to address these problems and ensure people have the legal right to reside and cultivate land. He emphasized that improving people’s quality of life must go hand-in-hand with the sustainable conservation of forest resources, and therefore assigned Permanent Secretary Dr. Raveewan Phuridej to closely oversee and promote the process of enabling communities to coexist with forests in a balanced manner. ‘This handover of land ownership documents is another important step in concretely resolving land ownership issues for the people, providing them with security in their lives. At the same time, it serves as a mechanism for the government to manage forest resources more effectively,
