Registration for State Welfare Card Closes with 470,000 Registrants Missing

Bangkok: The Ministry of Finance recently announced the closure of the registration period for the state welfare card, revealing that 470,000 individuals were absent from the initial registration list.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Lawaron Saengsanit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, provided insights into the registration process following its conclusion at 11:00 PM on June 21st. Of the 13.2 million existing cardholders, most have successfully verified their identities, leaving approximately 470,000 unaccounted for. A second group of 1.04 million individuals, whose data is linked with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, has been validated through fieldwork. Concurrently, a third group of 5.4 million potential cardholders identified via fieldwork awaits screening. Results from the screening process are set to be officially announced on July 17th, with an appeals process available for those initially overlooked until the end of July.

Mr. Vinit Visetsuwannapoom, Director of the Fiscal Policy Office and spokesperson for the Ministry of Finance, disclosed that during the registration period from June 4th to 21st, 2026, 12,700,720 existing state welfare cardholders confirmed their eligibility, accounting for 96.4 percent. Additionally, the Ministry of Interior has completed the registration for 1,047,520 individuals within the government's database, with their data now forwarded to the Ministry of Finance for further verification.

The Ministry of Finance plans to announce the eligibility verification results of registered individuals on July 17, 2026. These results will be accessible through the project website and the Paotang application, as well as at registration points of five banks: Krung Thai Bank, Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives, Government Savings Bank, Government Housing Bank, and Islamic Bank of Thailand.
