Republican Leaders Criticize Trump’s Policies Following Midterm Election Defeat

Washington:Republicans are distancing themselves and criticizing Trump's policies after a significant defeat in the midterm elections.

According to Thai News Agency, the Democratic Party has already secured more than 250 additional senators, while counting of votes continues in some districts. Several Republican leaders are attributing their defeat to key policies from the Donald Trump administration.

Republican leaders, especially those considering a presidential run in two years, cite two major policies of President Donald Trump as reasons for their defeat the war with Iran and the trade war. Vice President JD Vance criticized the Iran war and public dissatisfaction with the rising cost of living, suggesting that these factors contributed to the Republican Party's loss. Analysts believe Vance's comments reflect an effort to distance himself from President Trump.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, another potential presidential candidate, described the election outcome as a near-death experience for the party. He also criticized the government's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case as a reason for losing voter support. Senator Ted Cruz highlighted the prolonged war with Iran and aggressive trade policies as causes of increased expenses, arguing that the war should have concluded more swiftly.

In the Senate, Democrats have gained 7 seats, bringing their total to 55, surpassing the necessary 50-seat majority. Votes are still being counted in Mississippi and Alaska. In the House of Representatives, Democrats have secured 253 seats, nearly 30 seats more than the required majority, with the potential to gain more than 260 seats.

Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer has called on Republicans to cooperate in addressing economic challenges. He warned that if Republicans do not collaborate, the Democratic party is prepared to act independently to solve the nation's problems.
