Bangkok: A rescue operation was launched to help a male patient weighing 200 kg down from his room on the 5th floor and transport him to the hospital. Erawan Rescue Center and Ruam Katanyu Foundation personnel mobilized to successfully evacuate a male patient weighing over 200 kilograms from his 5th-floor room and transport him to the hospital.
According to Thai News Agency, the Erawan Center and the Ruam Katanyu Foundation assisted a man in his 30s who had suffered from diarrhea more than 10 times. He was conscious but unable to help himself much. The patient weighed over 200 kilograms, preventing him from descending from his residence. The location where the rescue was provided was a commercial building in the 70 Rai community, Khlong Toei.
The initial findings upon arrival were that the patient was lying supine, experiencing difficulty breathing. Urine bottles were found around the bed in the room. Due to the patient's heavy weight, movement was difficult. The rescue team spent hours planning how to evacuate the patient from the building. Another obstacle was the very narrow staircase. The rescue team eventually placed the patient on a stretcher, secured ropes to assist in the descent, and slowly pulled him down the stairs.
The rescue operation involved using ropes and a pulley system to gradually release the ropes supporting the patient, allowing rescuers to lower the patient without bearing excessive weight. The focus was on guiding the patient down slowly. The descent from the 5th floor to the 4th floor took approximately 5 minutes. The entire operation took about 30 minutes to safely bring the patient to the ground floor, where they were transported to the hospital.
