Bangkok: December 5th marked a significant event at Chulalongkorn University Centenary Park as the Ministry of Higher Education, Music, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) hosted “Music in the Park: HM Song.” The event aimed to honor the Father of the Land, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, recognized for his musical prowess. It also paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother and honored His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua. This event continued the tradition of celebrating the musical compositions of His Majesty for the fifth consecutive year.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Waraporn Rungtrakarn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of MHESI, presided over the event, which was held despite the heavy rain. The event saw participation from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sittidej Phongkitworasin, Vice President of Chulalongkorn University, and Mr. Ekapong Musikajaroen, Director of the Division of Promotion and Coordination for the Benefit of Science, Research and Innovation. The event was attended by executives from MHESI and administrators from various higher education institutions. The atmosphere was lively, with numerous attendees gathering to enjoy performances by bands from higher education institutions.
Ms. Waraporn opened the event by emphasizing the significance of “Music in the Park: HM Song” as a tribute to King Rama IX, a distinguished artist and musical genius. The event commemorated his legacy and expressed condolences to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, while honoring King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua. The event, held nationwide, was designed to allow the Thai public to appreciate the cherished music composed by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great.
At 6:00 p.m., attendees at Centenary Park and other locations nationwide joined in singing the national anthem, the royal anthem, and the royal composition “Our Land,” loudly expressing gratitude for His Majesty’s kindness towards the Thai people.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary highlighted that this year’s event aimed to commemorate the benevolence of King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great and Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother. It served as a platform to unite the hearts of people in expressing condolences and continuing royal aspirations through music. Additionally, the event showcased the potential of Thai students in academics, music, arts, and culture. It provided youths with the opportunity to learn about the Royal Family through compositions and stories, instilling pride in the monarchy and inspiring future contributions to the country’s development.
