Royal Officials and Prime Minister Inspect Canal Development Projects in Bangkok

Bangkok: Air Chief Marshal Sathitpong Sukvimol, the Royal Private Secretary to His Majesty the King, along with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, visited key areas in Bangkok to oversee the progress of canal development projects on Rattanakosin Island and Khlong Saen Saep.

According to Thai News Agency, the inspection team included Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Mr. Arsit Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, along with heads of government agencies, executives of state enterprises, and representatives from the private sector. The group focused on key waterways, including Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem, Khlong Maha Nak, and Khlong Ong Ang, as they assessed the ongoing development efforts aimed at revitalizing these historic canals.

The canal development project, a royal initiative of His Majesty the King, seeks to enhance the urban landscape while adhering to principles of environmental conservation and supporting the lifestyle of local residents. This initiative aims to rejuvenate critical waterways and sustainably improve the quality of life for communities residing along the canals.

During their visit, the delegation traveled by boat from the Lan Luang intersection pier on Krung Kasem Road in Pom Prap Sattru Phai District. The route covered Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem, Khlong Maha Nak, Phan Fa Lilat Bridge, and Khlong Ong Ang, concluding at a temporary pier near Damrong Sathit Bridge on Charoen Krung Road in Samphanthawong District, spanning a distance of 2.6 kilometers. After the boat tour, they received a comprehensive briefing on the project's progress, encompassing infrastructure, organizational improvements, landscape enhancements, sidewalk improvements, and the management of electricity poles and lighting. The briefing also covered efforts to promote tourism in the area, with recommendations provided to ensure sustainable development for public benefit.
