Bangkok: “Santhana” has initiated legal proceedings against the Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent of the Thonglor Police Station. Santhana is taking legal action, bringing evidence to file a complaint against the Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent of the Thonglor Police Station for allowing entertainment venues in the Thonglor area to operate without permission.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Santhana Prayoonrat, a former Special Branch police officer, recently met with investigators to press charges of dereliction of duty (Section 157) against the Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent of Investigation at Thonglor Police Station. He accuses them of enabling an entertainment venue to function without a license, following complaints from residents about the venue’s operations, including the sale of alcohol past permitted hours. Despite filing a report on August 7th, Santhana claims there has been no progress in the case. He criticized the Superintendent’s attempt to mediate directly with the venue operator, asserting that it was an unlawful action and that the officers should focus on investigation and arrest. Santhana plans to submit evidence and records to the Metropolitan Police Commissioner to pursue disciplinary and criminal actions against the officers and the venue.
There are speculations that Santhana’s actions might be influenced by a desire for retaliation. On November 13th, Thonglor Police Station officials, along with related agencies, raided him based on a warrant for kidnapping and extortion of a Taiwanese businessman in 2021. Santhana has denied these charges, suggesting betrayal by authorities and possible political motivations. The court granted him temporary release, with conditions including wearing an EM bracelet and a travel ban.
