Sisaket: The border area between Thailand and Cambodia in the Preah Vihear-Huai Ta Maria region of Sisaket Province remains tense, with military operations continuing despite negotiations by the Generally Recognized Border Committee (GBC) that took place yesterday. Police Sergeant Udom suffered a head injury from shrapnel, but his condition is now stable.
According to Thai News Agency, military activities are ongoing in the Sisaket border region, even as the GBC discussions commenced at the secretariat level in Chanthaburi Province. The situation has led to overcrowding in several temporary shelters in Kantararom District, where more than 1,000 displaced persons are registered. Some families have moved in with relatives, while others have set up tents around the shelters. To address the overcrowding and maintain hygiene, the Kantararom District Chief has opened his residence to vulnerable individuals, including pregnant women and the elderly, until the situation stabilizes.
The Royal Thai Police Facebook page reported that Police Sergeant Udom Ouanphui, a border patrol officer injured by shrapnel during an explosion near Preah Vihear Temple, underwent emergency surgery. His condition is stable, and he is out of danger.
