Bangkok: Somchai Hanhiran, the new member of the Monetary Policy Committee, replaces Santithar. Mr. Chiranuwat Thanyacharoen, Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Thailand (BOT), revealed that the BOT Board of Directors meeting on May 27, 2026, resolved to appoint Mr. Somchai Hanhiran, former Deputy Minister of Industry and Permanent Secretary of Industry, as a qualified member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) to replace Mr. Santithar Sathienthai, who resigned before the end of his term.
According to Thai News Agency, the appointment is effective from May 28, 2026, and his term will be the same as the remaining term of Mr. Santithar Sathienthai, until October 31, 2026.
