Bangkok: Sopon insists the water is under control and is preparing to discuss with the Cabinet and the National Security Council to adjust compensation criteria.
According to Thai News Agency, Sopon is also set to meet with the Cabinet and National Water Resources Committee to discuss water management amid concerns about the impact of rising seawater on Bangkok.
Deputy Prime Minister Sophon Saram commented on the current water situation, stating, “We can handle it,” as water management is a significant issue. He mentioned that the Cabinet will consider further adjustments to compensation criteria, emphasizing the importance of the matter and urging patience for the details. Discussions with the National Water Policy Committee (NWPC) will focus on the cause of inconsistent rain patterns, ongoing flooding, and whether water drainage is balanced across different areas. The Cabinet’s agenda includes addressing concerns that Bangkok may be affected by rising sea levels.
