SRT takes steam locomotive tour on Chulalongkorn Day

Chulalongkorn Day, SRT organizes a special steam locomotive tour train on the Bangkok - Ayutthaya route to commemorate the great kindness of King Chulalongkorn, Rama V. Tourists travel to Ayutthaya Railway Station, some of them dressed in Thai costumes from the era of King Rama V, to wait to take pictures with the ancient train and steam locomotive, which the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has organized as a special train, taking tourists on the Bangkok-Ayutthaya route on the occasion of Chulalongkorn Day, October 23, 2024, to express their loyalty and commemorate the great kindness of King Chulalongkorn, Rama V, who granted the railway business for the benefit of the Thai people. As soon as the steam locomotive arrived, both tourists on the train and tourists waiting to take pictures took out their cameras to record souvenirs, capturing the impression of the special train in a lively manner. For this train, it departed from Bangkok Station (Hua Lamphong) at 08.10 hrs. and arrived at Ayutthaya Station at 1 0.20 hrs. to drop off tourists to visit the area before returning from Ayutthaya Station at 16.40 hrs. and arriving in Bangkok at 18.50 hrs. It is a Pacific steam locomotive train, number 824 and 850, post-World War II model, produced by Nippon Charyo Co., Ltd., which is currently kept and maintained at Thonburi Locomotive Depot and will provide special service to the public only on special occasions.
