State Railway of Thailand to Open Lopburi 2 Station for Long-Distance Trains

Lopburi: The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is preparing to open Lopburi 2 Station to accommodate 14 long-distance, special express, express, and rapid trains.

According to Thai News Agency, the new station is part of the Lopburi-Pak Nam Pho double-track railway project and aims to facilitate long-distance rail travel while preserving important historical sites in Lopburi Province. Lopburi Station will continue to serve suburban, local, and freight trains as usual, with new operating schedules for the northern line set to begin on December 5, 2025.

Mr. Anan Phothinimdaeng, Deputy Governor and Acting Governor of the SRT, stated that the civil engineering work on the double-track railway line from Lopburi to Pak Nam Pho has been completed. As a result, the SRT has scheduled the opening of Lopburi 2 Station, located in Tha Wung District, approximately 12 kilometers from the original Lopburi station. The station is designed as an elevated bypass to avoid impacting the Phra Prang Sam Yot and Phra Kan Shrine. The station will serve 14 long-distance trains originating from Krungthep Aphiwat Central Station, with the official opening date set for December 5, 2025. Adjustments to the train schedules will align operations with the new station’s opening.

To enhance commuter convenience during this transition, the SRT will offer free shuttle services between Lopburi and Lopburi 2 Stations for passengers of special express, express, and rapid trains. Shuttle buses will depart Lopburi Station 30 minutes before train departures for upbound trains and will be available at the scheduled arrival times for downbound trains at Lopburi 2 Station. This service will operate from December 5, 2025, to March 5, 2026.

Mr. Anan also detailed that Lopburi 2 Station is an elevated structure situated between Ban Klap and Khok Krathiam stations. The station, a large three-story building, includes facilities such as elevators, stairways, restrooms, and a luggage storage room. The ground floor is designated for passenger parking and pick-up, the second floor for ticket sales and passenger transfers, and the third floor houses the train platform. Regular, commuter, local, and freight trains will continue to operate from the original Lopburi Station.

Passengers can utilize the Train Tracking System (TTS) to check train times and locations in real time, enhancing journey planning accuracy. For those traveling to Lopburi 2 Station, a travel map is available at g_st=ipc. Further information can be obtained from the Customer Service Center, reachable at telephone number 1690, or through the SRT’s Facebook fan page, available 24 hours a day.
