Suchart Chomklin Addresses Party Switching Speculations

Bangkok: Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Deputy Minister of Commerce and Deputy Leader of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, has clarified his stance on the recent buzz about MPs potentially switching parties. He emphasized that changing party affiliation is a privilege of the MPs and he does not intend to interfere in such personal decisions, stating that he would not close the door on the matter of party switching but would rather assess the situation. He expressed that his main priority is to remain in a place where he is content with his work.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suchart addressed the case of Ms. Kritsada Chivathamanon, a Chonburi MP from the Prachachon Party, who is reportedly preparing to join the Kla Tham Party. He noted that he keeps up with media reports on the movements of certain representatives but reiterated that it ultimately falls within the MPs’ rights to decide where they wish to align themselves. He stated that it is not for him to decide their happiness or choices, and he respects their prerogative to move between parties.

Regarding the speculation that the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, including Mr. Suchart himself, might be actively courting MPs from the Prachachon Party, Mr. Suchart refuted any personal involvement in courting or negotiating with MPs. He stressed his adherence to political manners and stated that while the party welcomes anyone who wishes to join, it is crucial that they share the same ideology centered on Nation, Religion, and Monarchy.

When questioned about his own potential party switch, Mr. Suchart mentioned that while he remains with the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party for now, the future remains uncertain due to the ever-changing political landscape. He acknowledged his history of switching parties in 2011, 2019, and 2023, and emphasized the importance of finding a workplace where he can be effective and happy, without making commitments that could restrict his future choices.
