Trang:Police have swiftly closed the case of a murder where a body was burned and hidden in a pickup truck near the Thang Ngiew Reservoir, arresting two suspects within 24 hours.
According to Thai News Agency, investigators from Huai Yot Police Station took Mr. Pongsapimsut, known as "Sak," age 28, to the crime scene for a reenactment. The crime occurred near Thang Ngiew Reservoir in Trang Province, where a pickup truck was set ablaze with Mr. Thirasak, age 37, inside. The other suspect, Mr. Nattawut, declined to participate in the reenactment.
Authorities revealed that the suspects, Mr. Nattawut (36) and Mr. Pongsapim Sutthiporn (28), confessed to the crime. Mr. Nattawut admitted to assaulting Mr. Thirasak in Chang Klang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat, on October 5th at 2 AM. He transported the body to Huai Yot District, Trang Province, seeking a disposal site. After finding the Thang Ngiew Reservoir via Google, he attempted to dump the body but abandoned the truck when it got stuck. He later returned with Mr. Pongsapimsut to set the vehicle on fire.
The murder motive was linked to a drug trafficking dispute, where the suspects claimed dissatisfaction after receiving only 200 of the 4,000 methamphetamine pills they had paid for. They insisted on acting alone, with Mr. Pongsapimsut only involved in the getaway.
The acting superintendent of Huai Yot Police Station noted conflicting statements from the suspects, particularly regarding the motive and method of assault. Further investigations and forensic evidence, including autopsy results, are awaited to verify the cause of death. Mr. Nattawut faces charges of murder, arson, and concealing a corpse, while Mr. Pongsapimsut is charged with arson and concealment-related offenses.
