Bangkok: TCEB (Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau) is making a strategic move to penetrate the Chinese market by bringing together 100 Thai organizations, including government agencies, private companies, and educational institutions, for the 'MEET Thai Plus 2026 Shenzhen' event. The initiative aims to facilitate at least 800 business matches with an estimated value exceeding 1 billion baht.
According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Supawan Teerarat, Director of TCEB, emphasized that MEET Thai Plus 2026 Shenzhen is an innovative MICE event targeting international markets under the theme "Thailand: Meet for More." Scheduled to occur from September 9-10, 2026, at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in China, the event represents the largest international market-focused gathering organized by TCEB. It spans various sectors, including trade, investment, tourism, technology, education, food, health, and the creative economy.
TCEB anticipates around 1,500 participants, including at least 1,000 Chinese B2B business representatives. The event is designed to foster 800 business matching sessions between Thai and Chinese enterprises, with an estimated business value surpassing 1 billion baht. The initiative also seeks to facilitate the signing of memoranda of understanding (MOUs) on business cooperation between the two nations, particularly in trade shows, technology, and innovation.
Dr. Supawan highlighted that the event is part of TCEB's proactive MICE strategy, which focuses on aligning with the business environment that demands a faster return on investment (ROI). The event aims to consolidate Thailand's strengths, expertise, and business opportunities, providing Chinese business people with comprehensive access to information and partnerships in Thailand.
The MEET Thai Plus 2026 Shenzhen event is intended to serve as a two-way gateway, linking Thai entrepreneurs with the Chinese market while encouraging Chinese businesses to consider Thailand as a hub for conferences, trade shows, and investments to access the ASEAN market.
Participating government agencies include the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Guangzhou, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the Department of International Trade Promotion, and others. The private sector comprises hotel operators, convention centers, destination management companies, and businesses from various sectors across Thailand's major cities.
TCEB opted for Shenzhen as the venue due to its status as a hub for innovation, technology, and investment in the Greater Bay Area, known for its dynamic economy and appeal to business travelers.
Mr. Jiang Wei, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Thailand, attended the press conference and delivered a lecture on "Strengthening Thai-Chinese Cooperation through MEET Thai Plus."
China remains a key market for Thailand in MICE, tourism, trade, and investment, presenting opportunities for collaboration in innovation and advanced technology. The event is expected to attract Chinese participants from MICE, tourism, international trade, e-commerce, software, artificial intelligence, and various chambers of commerce, in collaboration with Chinese trade and investment promotion agencies.
The MEET Thai Plus 2026 Shenzhen event will occupy a 7,500 square meter area at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center from September 9-10, 2026.
