Teenager Tragically Killed in Crane Accident at Pattaya Construction Site

Pattaya: A mother was overcome with grief as a 15-year-old boy was tragically killed when a crane's cable pulled him into a pile-driving wreck at a luxury condominium construction site in Pattaya.

According to Thai News Agency, officials are struggling to retrieve the remains of the 15-year-old boy who was pulled into the crane's base by a cable while helping his stepfather at a large condominium construction site on Soi Thepprasit 7 in Pattaya, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. A crowd of shocked workers gathered around the pile-driving crane, while his stepfather, 29-year-old Kantapol, and biological mother, 44-year-old Wipawadee, wept uncontrollably nearby. The rescue operation was difficult due to the severely mutilated condition of the body parts.

During questioning, Mr. Kantapol, the stepfather of the 15-year-old boy, tearfully testified that the incident occurred near the end of his workday, around 6:00 PM. His son said he wanted to help him, so he was asked to disconnect the battery terminals. However, for unknown reasons, his son jumped onto the crane platform. The crane's cable snapped, pulling his son down onto the conveyor belt, where he was crushed by the machinery right before his eyes. Mr. Kantapol was in shock and immediately called for help, but it was too late.

Pattaya City Police are currently investigating to determine whether the incident was an accident or due to negligence on the part of either party before filing charges.
