Thai Delegation Studies Administrative Justice in Bulgaria

Tunis:Participants of the Advanced Management Program in Administrative Justice (AMJ, Batch 5), led by Professor Emeritus Dr. Chanchai Sawangsak, visited the Supreme Administrative Court of Bulgaria. The visit aimed to study and exchange knowledge on the rule of law and administrative justice, crucial areas for both Bulgaria and Thailand.

According to Thai News Agency, the Supreme Administrative Courts of both countries play significant roles in protecting citizens' rights and freedoms and overseeing government power. The Supreme Administrative Court of Bulgaria is the highest judicial body in the country's administrative law system, ensuring the legality of government actions. During the visit, participants were welcomed by judges Ms. Julia Todorova and Ms. Madlen Petrova, who provided insights into the court’s powers and operations.

The Bulgarian administrative court system has evolved through various political changes, most notably reforming its judicial processes to align with EU standards, a prerequisite for Bulgaria's EU membership achieved in 2007. The Thai delegation explored these transformations as both countries' courts share similarities in their roles within the legal system and national development. The Supreme Administrative Court of Thailand has also been instrumental in transitioning the country to a dual court system, enhancing administrative law principles and promoting transparency.
