Tashkent: The Thai youth and junior weightlifting team achieved remarkable success at the 2026 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships, sweeping the medal tally with a total of 8 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals. The championships were held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and featured some of the most promising young athletes in the region.
According to Thai News Agency, the Thai national weightlifting team is now preparing to return home to Thailand after their impressive performance. The athletes demonstrated exceptional skills and determination, with several standout performances in various weight categories.
In the youth category, Miss Narumon Wonghachak brought home 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal in the Youth Women's 49 kg category. Similarly, Miss Natcha Kaewnoi won 2 gold medals and 1 bronze medal in the Youth Women's 53 kg category, while Miss Yaowaret Permkaew secured 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal in the Youth Women's 61 kg category. Additionally, in the Boys' Youth 70 kg category, Mr. Wichaya Prathumta achieved 2 gold medals and 1 bronze medal.
Rear Admiral Phetkasem Rataporn, the Deputy Secretary-General and Registrar of the Amateur Weightlifting Association of Thailand and team manager, expressed his congratulations to the athletes.
