Bangkok: Northern and southern Thailand will continue to experience rain, while northeastern Thailand should prepare for a new wave of cool winds. The Meteorological Department warns that thunderstorms will persist in the North and South, while the Northeast should brace for a drop in temperature as new cold air approaches.
According to Thai News Agency, thunderstorms in the South are attributed to a low-pressure system over the lower Andaman Sea, combined with a moderate northeast monsoon affecting the upper Gulf of Thailand, upper Southern Thailand, and upper Andaman Sea. This results in moderate wave conditions in the Gulf of Thailand, with waves reaching approximately 2 meters in the lower Gulf and 1-2 meters in the upper Gulf. Wave heights could exceed 2 meters in areas experiencing thunderstorms, prompting mariners to exercise caution and avoid sailing in affected areas.
For upper Thailand, scattered rain and thunderstorms are anticipated, especially in the provinces of Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, and Udon Thani. This weather pattern is due to easterly winds bringing moisture to these regions, coupled with a westerly wind wave from Myanmar impacting upper northern Thailand and upper Laos.
Meanwhile, northeastern Thailand will experience a temperature drop and strong winds as a high-pressure system or cold air mass from China is expected to spread over southern China and reach northeastern Thailand and the South China Sea by December 14, 2025. Other regions are likely to be affected in the coming days. The public is advised to take precautions for their health amid changing weather conditions and remain vigilant for potential dangers from thunderstorms. Additionally, farmers are urged to prepare to protect their crops from possible damage.
